About Patricia Brewer

I Know What It Feels Like to Fight for Your Child

I became an advocate because I lived it. Now I help other families find their footing in a system that wasn't designed to make things easy.

Patricia Brewer, special education advocate

My Story

When my own child was struggling in school, I sat in IEP meetings feeling overwhelmed, outnumbered, and unsure whether I was asking the right questions. I trusted the process — until I realized the process wasn't working for my child.

I started researching. I read every regulation, attended every training, and connected with other parents who were fighting the same battles. Over time, I became the person other families called when they didn't know where to turn.

That's when I knew this was my calling. I founded Advocate the Way to make sure no parent has to walk into a school meeting alone, uninformed, or without someone firmly in their corner.

My Mission

To empower families navigating the special education system with the knowledge, support, and advocacy they need to secure the services their children deserve — and to do it with dignity, clarity, and confidence.

Every child deserves a free, appropriate public education

FAPE isn't a favor — it's a federal right. I help families understand and enforce it.

Parents are the most important voice in the room

You know your child better than any evaluator or administrator. My job is to make sure that voice is heard.

Knowledge is the great equalizer

When parents understand the system, the dynamic in the room changes. I give you the tools to walk in prepared.
